Christopher is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist from Seattle, WA. He started studying the drums as an eleven-year-old, having grown up singing along with his very musical family. Chris’ first private teacher remains his most important; he studied with drummer and music educator David Jette for nine years before moving to New York City to continue his music education at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. There, Chris was immersed in an intensely creative music community and studied under the tutelage of jazz legends Reggie Workman, Jane Ira Bloom, Lee Ann Ledgerwood, Vic Juris, Jimmy Owens, Andrew Cyrille, and Girard D’Angelo, among others, and master drummers Amir Ziv, Jim Black, Nate Wood, Ari Hoenig, Mark Guiliana, Gregory Hutchinson. Completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Jazz and Contemporary Music in 2015, Chris remained active in New York and on the west coast, playing with artists including Alexis Cuadrado, Ingrid Jensen, Yosvany Terry, Marcus Strickland, Miles Okazaki, Mike Robinson (Jeff Austin Band), Joe Vilardi (Jimmy), Nathan Kamal (Stratus Quartet), and Amber Navran (Moonchild). He has played at venues across NYC and at festivals including NYC Winter Jazz Festival and the Bern International Jazz Festival. After seven years living in NYC, Chris moved to Portland in 2018 to live closer to his family and to dig into the West Coast music scene where his roots were first sewn.
Chris teaches drumset, piano, guitar, bass, and music production.
Chris is currently not accepting new students.
